As a senior leader in the military, I was entrusted with evaluating and selecting America’s best and brightest for some of the most critical missions. This approach helped me not only survive but thrive, moving from a military career to leading operations and talent acquisition at Amazon, one of the world’s largest publicly traded companies. But along the way, I also saw where recruitment—and talent management—often fails.
